Less than a month left: MEPs at UK Metals Expo 2025

MEPS International is ready to share its vision of the steel market experiencing a "turning point" with an expanded presence at the annual UK Metals Expo 2025, which will be held next month.

Members of the MEPS research group will work in the Steel Market Analysis and Pricing department. The expanded booth (B44) will be presented at the annual event at NEC in Birmingham on September 10. 11.

In addition, Kaye Ayub, Head of the European Parliament's Price Analysis and Forecasting Department, returns to the event to hold panel discussions on the carbon and stainless steel markets for two days.

"The steel markets are going through a turning point," Ayub said ahead of the trade show next month. "Price dynamics, trade flows, and policy changes are changing the way people do business.

" I am looking forward to discussing carbon and stainless steel market trends during the panel discussions that I am chairing.

The UK Metals Expo is an important platform for exchanging ideas and exploring how we can navigate a rapidly changing market together.

Solving the market has become a big topic

An understanding of current steel price trends and market prospects will be revealed to MEPs as part of a presentation held at the event Supply, Services, Trade and Politics Theatre. Last year's debate attracted a large audience, and prior participation was required to secure a seat.

Among the topics that panelists will discuss at this year's exhibition will be: challenges and opportunities during a period of low demand; the timing of the steel market recovery; and the growing impact of trade protection measures, including import tariffs from the United States, protective quotas, and mechanisms for regulating the EU and UK carbon borders. These are some of the key factors affecting steel prices that market participants drew attention to during the MEPS study for their European Steel Review.

Four experts will join Ayub at the presentation of the MEPS report"Carbon Steel Market: Trend Orientation and Price Dynamics Discussion, which will take place on September 10 from 12:00 to 12:50 p.m. These are: Gareth Stace, CEO of UK Steel; Godfrey Watt, President of the International Steel Trade Association; Nathan Lawrence, Commercial Director of Tata Steel UK; and Tom McDougall, Commercial Director of All Steels Trading.

The European Parliament Stainless Steel Market: A discussion forum "Exploring trends and price dynamics" will be held on the same stage from 12:30 to 13:20 the next day.
