Tata Steel launches steel line that meets future European standards

Tata Steel Nederland (TSN) has commissioned a new packaging steel production line for the food industry. The key feature of the project was the use of innovative TCCT (Trivalent Chromium Coating Technology) technology, which significantly reduces the environmental impact of production and already meets the future requirements of European regulation, in terms of the use of chemicals (REACH). This is stated in the company's press release.

TSN is the exclusive developer and patent holder for TCCT technology. The company is not only introducing it into its own production, but also offering it to second European steel producers, effectively forming a new standard for the Packaging steel Market in Europe.

An important advantage of the new line is the complete concentration of the production process on one site, which simplifies logistics and shortens the supply chain. In combination with the Protact solution, polymer–coated packaging steel, TCCT ensures compliance with the strictest food safety standards. At the same time, customers no longer need additional varnishing of the material, which reduces costs, reduces the use of chemicals and simplifies production processes.

According to Arne Hoogervorst, Head of Packaging at Tata Steel Nederland, the new technology makes production safer for employees, minimizes environmental risks and helps customers move towards more efficient and sustainable solutions.
