China has reduced iron ore production

By the end of 2025, China reduced iron ore production by 2.8% YoY to 983.71 million tons. This is evidenced by data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS), SteelOrbis reports.

In December last year, this figure amounted to 79.34 million tons, which is 4.4% less year-on-year and compared to the previous month.

According to SteelOrbis, the lowest level of iron ore prices in China – $104/ton during the last month of the year was recorded on December 9 and 15, and the highest – $107/ton – on December 18, 22 and 29.

Recall that in 2025, China increased iron ore imports by 1.8% YoY, to 1.26 billion tons, these volumes have been increasing for the third year in a row. In December, the indicator was at the level of 119.64 million tons, which is 8.2% more than in the previous month.
