Interpipe has developed a new wheelset design for a car builder in Northern Europe
The Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has supplied ULT35 wheelsets for the first time. The products are used for the construction of heavy-duty wagons, and the final consumer will be a steel mill in northern Sweden, the company's press service writes.
The ULT35 wheelset from the company's own ULTIMATE range was developed by the company's R&D specialists specifically for wagons designed to carry super-heavy loads. The new product is able to withstand an axle load of up to 35 tons, which is significantly higher than the standard values for the cargo segment, which are usually 20-25 tons.
Interpipe notes that wagons with an axle load of 35 tons are used only in a limited number of countries and mainly for specialized transportation. This is due to the need for a reinforced railway infrastructure, as well as increased requirements for the strength and wear resistance of wheels and axles.
Niklas Eriksson, a leading specialist in the sale of Interpipe railway products to the European market, said that the new design will become the standard for the Swedish car builder, a permanent partner of the company, which specializes in the production of heavy wagons.
"The wheelset is designed specifically for 35 tons, but the design allows it to be used for wagons with a lower load. Thus, we were able to extend the service life of the wheels and potentially reduce the necessary stock of wheels and wheel sets for the repair of wagons for the customer," said Eriksson.
