In the framework of the Expert mission of the IAEA from the third to the fifth day of December in Kropiwnicki held a seminar on the IAEA project UKR9037 "Development strategy of decommissioning and environmental remediation of former sites of extraction and production of uranium."
the Aim of the seminar development issues develop a communication strategy interact with stakeholders in the decommissioning of uranium facilities.
for three days the seminar participants will familiarize with the experience of the canadian and German colleagues to restore the environment at the sites of processing of uranium stakeholder engagement to environmental remediation at the sites of uranium legacy sites in Central Asia.
Participants will process with the representatives of IAEA plans for the withdrawal of the Smolinskaya mine decommissioning and environmental restoration, will consider the possibility of financial support of activities, reclamation, long-term maintenance and supervision of the object.
Smolinskaya mine is located in the village Smolino Kirovograd region. Mine works off Vatutinsky uranium Deposit. Founded in April 1972. Ore deposits are practiced at depths from 70 to 640 meters. Production capacity is 450 thousand tonnes of ore per year.
