DTEK Energy may suspend Ukraine's largest coal company
DTEK-Energo, a member controlled by billionaire Rinat Akhmetov DTEK, may suspend the operation of the largest coal enterprises of Ukraine Pavlogradugol - due to non-payment in the energy sector, said the CEO of DTEK Energy in the course of the online discussion "the impact of the global energy crisis for Ukraine" on Friday.
"the Reason is simple - the inability to pay now wages second - the inability to pay for transportation of coal to the station and to provide all necessary", - said Dmytro Sakharuk. He said that in Pavlogradugol employs 30 000 people.
Sakharuk did not mention the size of debts to the enterprises of DTEK Energy.
According to the state statistics service of Ukraine, the total wage arrears in the industrial sector of the country on March 1 amounted to 2.32 billion hryvnia (about 85 million U.S. dollars).
Previously, reported that in connection with a systemic crisis in the energy sector of Ukraine, the continuing import of electricity and coal, regular intervention in the market and from politicians that cumulatively led to a lack of demand for Ukrainian coal mines of DTEK Dobropolyeugol mine "Belozerskaya" and CCM Oktyabrskaya suspend the operation for the extraction and preparation of the mine workings and coal processing from April 1, 2020.
DTEK Energy, which includes coal mines, processing plants, and power plants, produces a quarter of the country's electricity.
