Mining companies in Peru plan to resume work in the coming days
Peruvian mining companies intend to resume work in the coming days and increase production up to 80% of normal level within a month, said Pablo de La Flor, Executive Director of the National society of mining, petroleum and energy (SNMPE).
According to him, about 20 mining companies are ready to resume activities that were restricted nationwide quarantine since mid-March, reported Reuters. Currently, the company employs 35-40% of capacity.
"We are talking about 39 projects 22 large mining companies", — he said in a telephone interview. "This is about 95% (local) production of copper, 65% of the silver production, 62% of the production of zinc and 26% of gold production", he added.
the Peruvian Government said it wants to gradually reopen a key event in may to reduce the impact on the economy.
