ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih installed a new crushing line
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is completing the next stage of modernization of the equipment of the second production site of the crushing plant (DF) of the mining department. Two new crushers are installed here, which will allow balancing the production of both streams of crushed ore that are conveyed to Concentrator # 2. The company has invested $ 7.5 million in this large-scale project.
The first and second production sites of the DF are used to receive and process ore coming from the quarries of the mining department of the enterprise. Crushing of ore in the second section involves three stages: coarse, medium and fine crushing, as well as stages of preliminary and control screening. Currently, nine units of technological equipment are already operating in the medium-fine crushing building of production site No. 2: four medium crushers (the size of the feedstock at the exit from 0-350 mm to 0-75 mm) and five crushers of fine crushing (the size of the feedstock at the exit from 0–75 to 0-16 mm). In addition to crushers, the body includes feeder conveyors, screens and a conveyor system.
At the moment, the new crushers are being commissioned to reach their design capacity. The factory will be able to carry out scheduled and overhaul repairs of both conveyor streams, to reduce production losses during unplanned equipment downtime. In addition, the quality of products will increase due to a decrease in the percentage of crushed ore output exceeding +20 mm.
As of today, 72.5% of the crushed ore volume of the main production site No. 2 is provided by the AB side of the medium-fine crushing building. After bringing modern crushers to production capacities, the enterprise will be able to compensate losses during equipment shutdown for 300-320 thousand tons of crushed ore per year. In addition, due to hydraulic adjustment of the gap, it will be possible to reduce the size of the ore for further beneficiation. The higher the quality of ore crushing, the more efficiently the ore processing factories work. Now they are producing a high quality product - a concentrate with an iron content of 65.3%. The plans are to increase the iron content to 68%. The crushing plant, for its part, must prepare quality raw materials. With the help of modernized equipment, it will be easier to meet all customer requirements and improve the efficiency of the technological process.
Artem Kuznetsov, head of the mining production development department of the mining department of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih:
- Reconstruction of the medium and fine crushing building will help stabilize the production of the crushing plant and improve product quality. We managed to balance the technological flows of ore to the processing plant No. 2 and, accordingly, to increase the reliability of the equipment, to stabilize the operational capabilities of the building itself. The project has installed two new crushers, metal detectors, feeder conveyors, and a modern automated process control system. This will make it possible to timely and efficiently perform scheduled repairs and crush ore in accordance with the world's best practices.
