Ukraine increased export of iron ore by 12.9% in eight months
Mining enterprises of Ukraine in January-August 2020 increased the export of iron ore raw materials (IRR) in physical terms by 12.9% compared to the same period last year - up to 30,712,084 tons.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (GTS) on Tuesday, during the specified period, foreign exchange earnings from iron ore exports increased by 0.9% - to $ 2 billion 522.630 million.
For eight months of 2020, Ukraine imported iron ore for $ 55 thousand in a total volume of 103 tons, while in January-August-2019, 108 tons for 56 thousand tons were imported.
As reported, in 2019 Ukraine increased the export of iron ore in physical terms by 8.1% compared to 2018 - up to 39,901,836 tons, increasing supplies in monetary terms by 18.5% - up to 3 billion 398.958 million dollars .
Iron ore was exported mainly to China (34.4% of supplies in monetary terms), Poland (12.17%) and the Czech Republic (10.13%).
Imports of iron ore to Ukraine in 2019 amounted to 14.245 thousand tons for the amount of 1.412 million dollars, compared to 111.727 thousand tons for 8.295 million dollars in 2018. Deliveries were made from the Russian Federation (90.86% in monetary terms), the Netherlands (5.95%) and the UK (2.34%).
