Ukraine is able to provide itself with its own gas until 2025 - the head of the State Geological Agency
The production of own gas and oil in Ukraine can be increased several times due to the attraction of large investments and modern technologies to the industry, said Roman Opimakh, Head of the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine, speaking at the VII International Industry Forum “Increasing the efficiency of hydrocarbon production at oil and gas fields in Ukraine ".
“We must abandon imports until 2025 - this is the goal of the national economic strategy. A significant increase in hydrocarbon production in the future is impossible without a significant increase in the resource base and improvement of its quality through exploration and preparation of new facilities. In the bowels of the oil and gas regions of Ukraine, about half of the available resources remain unexplored, associated with the development of deep horizons, hard-to-recover reservoirs within promising areas, as well as the exploration of the Black Sea shelf, ”said the head of the State Geological Survey.
Exploration of unconventional gas sources will allow, according to preliminary estimates of the service, add about 800 million tons of standard fuel, of which about 300 million tons will make up proven and probable reserves.
Ukraine has significant reserves of hydrocarbons - as of 2019, the State Balance of Mineral Reserves took into account the reserves of oil, gas and gas condensate for 411 fields, the initial total resources of hydrocarbons, accounted for in the amount of 8.86 billion tons of standard fuel. Domestic gas production provides only 65% of consumption, the rest is imported from abroad.
Now Gosgeonedra has put up four oil and gas lots for electronic auction. Shcherbakovskaya-Shkurupievskaya, Lyuchkivsko-Berezovskaya and Vostochno-Kosmatska areas with deposits of oil, natural gas and condensate are offered for geological exploration and pilot development of subsoil with subsequent production, the Yulievskoye field - for the production of natural gas and condensate. The auctions are scheduled for April 21, 2021.
