Due to the new EU steel import quota regime introduced on July 1, which worsens supply prospects in the domestic European market, prices for flat rolled products in Germany continue to rise. The prices of hot-rolled roll (HRC) and cold-rolled roll (CRC) in the German sheet metal market have increased, while trading activity remains limited due to the summer holiday period. Market sources note that the revised EU protective measures have tightened supply conditions, supporting the efforts of domestic enterprises to raise prices. As of July 14, HRC prices in Germany are estimated at 700 euros per ton, while CRC prices have reached 800 euros per ton. Meanwhile, prices for slabs remain stable at 775 euros per ton. According to market participants, the reduction in the supply of alternative imported goods supports the European domestic market. However, buyers continue to act cautiously as demand remains weak. In the meantime, service centers and end users are reportedly purchasing only those volumes that are sufficient to meet their short-term needs. Market participants believe that the potential increase in demand after the summer holidays, especially starting in September, will be a key factor in determining the direction of price growth.
