The domestic market for thick-rolled products in Italy declined in the week to Thursday, July 30, while prices in Northern Europe remained generally stable due to limited activity, market sources told Fastmarkets on Thursday. . . . Italy, ,

A large number of orders for a basic quality slab related to replenishment were confirmed at a price of 690-700 euros (787-798 dollars) per ton from the factory in Italy, while offers were reported at a price of 710-720 euros per ton from the factory, including for the S235 slab.

,

- This is a decrease compared to the previous market figures, which were announced on July 23 at the level of 700-750 euros per ton from the plant.

Sources attributed higher supply levels of 740-750 euros per tonne from the plant to S355 grades, but this grade is not part of the Fastmarkets methodology. They also reported that September products were mostly sold out, and that factories may try to raise prices after the summer ends.

"We are most likely at the very bottom, as most of the September products are sold out, and after the holidays, manufacturers will try to raise prices a little in line with roll prices and this is based on quota reductions," one of the manufacturers told Fastmarkets.

As a result, Fastmarkets' weekly price estimate for domestic 8-40 mm thick steel sheet for Southern Europe on Thursday was 690-710 euros per ton, compared with 700-730 euros per ton a week earlier.

Northern Europe,

Northern Europe, spot market offers for the German list were 820-850 euros per ton for Southern Europe.-the data from the trade source is at the same level as the latest data from July 23.

The same source said that integrated mills has very good order portfolios and many projects, so "everyone is quite optimistic", expecting higher profits in the second half of the year, which was not necessarily due to an increase in production volumes.

On July 23, market participants reported that German factories have limited volumes available on the spot market, and the earliest product offer will arrive at the end of October.

No other price offers for domestically produced sheet steel were received in Northern Europe from 8 to 40 mm, so Fastmarkets kept its weekly price estimate unchanged on July 30 at 820-850 euros per ton.
