The revenue of the German conglomerate thyssenkrupp increased in the third fiscal quarter, but orders in some of its divisions decreased, but it is satisfied with the results of its metallurgical activities. Sales ,
,The Group's revenue in the reporting quarter – from April to June – rose to 8.8 billion euros (10.1 billion dollars) compared with 8.2 billion euros in the previous quarter. The steel distribution division of tk Materials Services benefited from increased production volumes and higher prices, while the steel division of tk Steel Europe also saw sales growth. Sales of tk Marine Systems increased, but were below last year's sales of tk Automotive Technology and tk Decarbon Technologies. Order volume
andIt amounted to 7.7 billion euros compared to 10.1 billion euros year-on-year. This exceptionally high figure reflects the increase in tk Marine Systems' order for two more submarines for Southeast Asia and the completion of a major service order for the German Navy. Income
Net amounted to 34 million euros after a loss of 255 million euros in the previous quarter. This turnaround was mainly due to the positive accounting effect of EUR 131 million in connection with the sale of a stake in Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM).
At tk Materials Services, which has now been renamed tk accelis, the number of orders increased by 20% to 3.3 billion euros, and revenue increased by 18% to 3.4 billion euros. The Group notes a particularly significant contribution to the growth of its operations in North America. The international trade business also developed positively, and, according to Kallanish, the increase in prices and volumes for key product groups had a positive impact. Supplies of materials and raw materials increased from 1.7 million tons to 2.1 million tons year-on-year.
At tk Steel Europe, the volume of orders increased by 9% to 3.3 billion euros, and revenue increased by 5% to 3.5 billion euros. In this segment, selling prices decreased compared to the previous year in almost all areas, tk notes. Unfavorable market trends have affected individual product segments. A significant decrease in tinplate prices was noted mainly due to the restrictive trade policy of the United States, including with regard to electrical steel, related to imports into the EU from third countries.
The Group did not provide production or shipment data for tk Steel Europe.
