Tesla sales at the end of 2021 significantly exceeded analysts' expectations
The deliveries of the American manufacturer Tesla Inc in the fourth quarter of 2021 amounted to 308 thousand electric vehicles, breaking the record of 241.3 thousand cars reached in the previous quarter. This is stated in the message of Elon Musk's company on Sunday.
This is above the estimate of analysts who had expected the maximum average number of sales at 266 thousand cars, according to FactSet.
In total, in 2021, Tesla provided the market with 936 thousand electric cars, almost doubling deliveries compared to 2020, when the company delivered about 500 thousand cars.
The leaders in the production of Tesla are two models of electric cars - the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y SUV, the aggregate deliveries of which in 2021 amounted to 911.209 thousand.
Tesla has managed to significantly increase its market presence despite shortages and challenges in global semiconductor supply chains that have negatively affected other automakers.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that in-house software developments have helped the company adapt much better to the chip shortage than its competitors.
Final sales figures will be released with the fourth quarter financial statements later this month.
The capitalization of Tesla Inc in 2021 for the first time exceeded a trillion dollars and, as of December 31, amounted to 1.06 trillion dollars.
