SSAB Americas raises flat steel prices

US sheet steel maker SSAB Americas raised plate prices for the second time in just over a month.

The company raised prices today by $60 a short ton after raising another $60 a tonne on January 18th.

Its heavy plate competitor Nucor kept its plate prices at $1,480/t on Feb. 16, but the steelmaker has raised the price of hot rolled coil twice in the past eight days.

The cost of ex-works steel sheet in the US, according to Argus, has remained virtually unchanged since the beginning of December at $1,480 per ton.
