The United States banned the supply to Iran stainless steel and foil
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the construction sector of Iran directly or indirectly controlled by the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington considers a foreign terrorist organization.
as a result of selling raw materials and semi-finished products, graphite, coal and software for integrating industrial purposes is authorized, if the materials are used in construction sector of Iran, stated in the information Bulletin of the state Department.
Pompeo has identified four "strategic material" used in connection with nuclear programmes in the military field or in the construction of ballistic missiles, which makes them subject to trade sanctions.
Thus, according to the information Bulletin of the state Department, under the sanctions fall:
- stainless steel Pipe 304L;
- Manganese solder foil MN40;
- soldering foil Manganese MN70;
- Stainless steel CrNi60WTi ESR + VAR (chrome, Nickel, 60 per cent tungsten, titanium, electroslag remelting, vacuum arc remelting).
In a separate statement a spokesman of the state Department of Morgan Ortagus stated that these definitions gave Washington the opportunity to "prevent Iran from buying strategic materials for the IRGC, the construction sector and its dissemination programmes".
