US to channel over $ 100 billion towards offshore wind power development
US Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced two new initiatives that will contribute to the Biden-Harris administration's clean energy goals by leveraging economic the potential of offshore wind power to tackle the climate crisis and create more clean energy jobs.
The Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy have announced a shared goal of 30 gigawatts (GW ) in the United States, while protecting biodiversity and promoting ocean sharing.
To achieve this goal, the Commerce Department expects an annual investment of $ 12 billion by 2030, which will create more than 44,000 new jobs in offshore wind power and almost 33,000 additional jobs in offshore wind power.
