Apple will replace stainless steel with titanium alloy in the cases of the new iPhone 14

Having recently swapped aluminum for stainless steel in its smartphone cases, Apple will continue to reinforce the iPhone with titanium. Citing supply chain sources, investment firm JPMorgan Chase said on Tuesday that the iPhone model will have a titanium alloy body from 2022.

This alloy of titanium and other elements is more durable and scratch-resistant than current iPhones.

The high-quality iPhone 12 Pro Max and Pro are made of stainless steel, while the iPhone 12 is made of aluminum. Older models, including the iPhone 11, also have an aluminum body.

The changes will only affect the body and the metal strip along the edge. The front of the iPhone 14 will likely remain wireless-charging glass.

Apple recently added a case, charger and power bank to its MagSafe range of accessories.

In addition, the 2022 version of the iPhone is likely to receive a major redesign, while the iPhone 13 is expected to be similar to the current iPhone 12.

Of course, since Apple hasn't officially shared any specs, everything about the iPhone 13 and 14 is speculation for now.

A survey by second-hand phone site SellCell found that nearly 75 percent of respondents believed Apple would not label its next-generation smartphone with the "13", which is considered an unlucky number in some countries.
