Gazprom refuses to book the capacity of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline for eight days in a row
Gazprom at the additional night session on December 28 again did not book the capacity of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe pipeline, according to the data of the gas transmission operator Gascade. The Russian gas monopoly has not booked the capacity of the gas pipeline to Europe for the eighth day in a row.
Gazprom's long-term contract for transit through Poland ended a year ago. Since then, the segment's capacities have been allocated at auctions. The Yamal-Europe pipeline can pump up to 33 billion cubic meters of gas a year. The Polish block is owned by the EuRoPol Gaz joint venture and operated by the national gas transmission operator Gaz-System.
Since December 21, the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline has been operating in reverse mode. Against the background of a decrease in pumping, the price of gas in Europe reached a record $ 2,150 per thousand cubic meters. Gazprom said this week that it is ready to supply additional volumes of gas to Europe, and also denied any allegations of insufficient supplies. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week that the Europeans "created themselves" gas problems.
The volume of active gas in European UGS facilities as of December 24, according to Gas Infrastructure Europe, is 21.1 billion cubic meters less than last year's level. Already 43.1% of the volume of gas injected this year has been withdrawn.
Since December 24, Ukraine has entered the zone of a historic minimum in terms of gas reserves in UGS facilities - 14.37 billion cubic meters, which is 9.9 billion less than last year and already 1 billion less than at the start of injection in April this year.
