Metallurgists of Magnitogorsk replaced the scarce Ukrainian rolls with imports
Magnitogorsk Rolls Plant (part of PJSC MMK Group) put into operation the third machine for centrifugal casting of rolls, thanks to which the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works will be able to fully satisfy the needs of Russian metallurgical enterprises in this most important element of rolling mills.
As noted in the press service of the MMK Group, the total investment in the construction of a new industrial facility amounted to almost 1.5 billion rubles.
The new machine Kuettner (Germany) will produce rolls with a diameter of up to 1500 mm and a length of up to 3500 mm. The assortment of the new machine will allow, using, among other things, new materials, to master the range of work rolls for roughing groups of stands of all rolling mills in the Russian Federation.
Previously, similar rolls were supplied to Russia from Ukraine and the EU.
The production capacity of the new centrifugal roll casting machine is quite sufficient to meet the needs of all Russian rolling mills, including the sites of industrial giants - MMK, Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works and Severstal. This is about two thousand rolls per year, the start of deliveries of which MZPV guarantees to consumers in the near future.
The investment program for the development of the Magnitogorsk Rolls Plant, calculated until 2030, continues to focus on import substitution. The program involves, in particular, the construction of a new industrial complex, which will allow mastering the production of new products - back-up rolls for hot rolling mills.
