The new gas purification system will ensure the discharge and purification of gases from two arc steelmaking furnaces (DSP) – the existing one and DSP-7 with a working volume of up to 10 tons of liquid metal. The goal is to increase the efficiency of cleaning exhaust gases from furnaces to 20 mg/m3, as well as to ensure the required hygiene standards in the area of the personnel's work area.
A new arc furnace, as well as a gas purification plant, is being built at the casting site of the procurement production workshop of the SSM-Tyazhmash machine-building center as part of the renovation of the foundry complex. The goal is to increase the production of steel castings as early as 2025. The CP provides cast blanks for CherMK's main processing plants and resource assets for the manufacture of key components and assemblies.

The cost of upgrading the foundry complex as a whole is more than 1 billion rubles, of which about 25% percent is accounted for by gas purification, said Evgeny Vinogradov, General Director of the Severstal Russian Steel division and resource assets.
"The company provides its construction taking into account the best available technologies. Thus, the capacity of the aspiration system based on bag filters is 300,000 m3/hour. The new gas treatment plant, built to replace the outdated one, will significantly improve the working conditions of foundry workers and ensure the environmental parameters of technological equipment operation."Foundation work has been completed at the facility, and the installation of basic technological equipment is underway. It includes a bag filter housing, filter elements, a cyclone coupling screw, and a cyclone hopper. The equipment supplier is a domestic company, engineering and project support are provided by JSC "VNII Metmash".
