"Taganrog Metallurgical Plant" has mastered the production of new profile pipes

The plant (part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company), produced the first batch of a fundamentally new type of product for the enterprise — profile pipes measuring 100x100 mm with a wall thickness of 6 mm. The new rolling technology was tested on a batch of 125 tons.

The scope of application of the new pipes is the construction of metal structures, the manufacture of building frames and engineering systems. Their main advantages are high strength, resistance to mechanical stress and ease of installation.

Due to the increased wall thickness, the structures become more durable and stable, which makes it possible to use fewer pipes during the construction of facilities. The project was implemented by a team of specialists from the engineering technical center, production management and pipe welding workshop of the enterprise.

The development of this standard size will allow the plant to significantly expand the range of large profile pipes and offer products to the market for projects where high durability and reliability of materials are critically important, said Viktor Novikov, Managing Director of Taganrog Metallurgical Plant.

"The use of more durable pipes will lead to a reduction in the design metal consumption of the final product — metal structures and, consequently, to a reduction in the costs of the main consumers — construction organizations. We continue to improve the production process in order to offer our customers technological and high-quality solutions that ensure the effective fulfillment of their business tasks."

TAGMET produces welded round pipes with a diameter from 10 to 219 mm and welded rectangular and square pipes with a size from 20x20 mm to 160x160 mm with a wall thickness from 2 to 6 mm. The capacity of the company's pipe welding production exceeds 450 thousand tons of pipes per year. The company also operates a unique section equipped with a continuous furnace pipe welding unit with a production capacity of more than 230 thousand tons of pipes per year and a pipe galvanizing machine.
