Ural Steel has received confirmation of the effectiveness of its high-strength rolled products in extreme conditions

The parts made of patented HARDUS 450 steel have successfully passed pilot tests at a nearby mining and processing plant, demonstrating exceptional abrasion resistance, particularly in mining operations at a depth of 990 meters.

The mining partners set the production task in early summer 2025. It was necessary to solve the problem of rapid wear of the blade linings of the CAT R1700G loading and delivery machine and the walls of the hoisting machine, which were previously made of 09G2C structural steel.

Ural Steel specialists (part of the Ural Steel Group of Companies with Zagorsky Pipe Plant) promptly responded to the request and offered to test their own solution – high-strength HARDUS 450 steel with increased resistance to abrasive wear. This innovative product was previously mastered by the plant's sheet metal distributors in conjunction with the management of new types of products and the central laboratory of the plant.

Having received the necessary technical documentation from the partners, the engineers of the spare parts production department organized the production of a pilot batch of new steel parts in a short time. A special tool was selected for processing the solid material. The finished products were shot-blasted to increase fatigue strength and were sent to the customer.

At the same time, as part of the development of cooperation, the shovel teeth of an excavator manufactured by the Ural Steel foundry were handed over to the miners for testing, which have already proven themselves in harsh conditions at the plant itself and with other partners. The test results exceeded expectations. The HARDUS 450 steel parts have shown a significant service life, which directly affects the reduction of equipment downtime and increased mining efficiency.

The successful completion of the tests opens up new opportunities for Novotroitsk metallurgists to cooperate and form stable orders for wear-resistant parts made of high-strength steel.
