Ural Steel has managed to dramatically reduce coke consumption in blast furnace production

In 2023, 418.52 kg of coke was consumed per ton of cast iron, in 2024 — 408.86 kg/ton of cast iron, then in 11 months of 2025 - 380.7 kg/ton of cast iron.

At the same time, at blast furnace No. 2 in early October, the company reached an absolute record of 341.38 kg/ton of pig iron.

Ural Steel managed to achieve these results by increasing the consumption of natural gas (from 129 to 171 m3/t), increasing the hot blast temperature (from 1100 °C to 1142 °C) and reducing the silicon content in cast iron.

In addition to saving on coke, reducing its consumption means reducing the carbon footprint of production and reducing the environmental impact.
