Investment in SpaceX in 2020 exceeds the volume of the Russian space program
In 2020, Elon Musk's SpaceX attracted private investments comparable to the volume of the Federal Space Program of Russia, said Nikita Kazinsky, CEO of Organization Agat (the head economic research institute of Roscosmos).
“For example, the total amount of attracted investments from private investors in 2020 alone will reach $ 2.41 billion. This amount is comparable to the volume of the annual budgetary funding of the Federal Space Program of Russia, "- Mr. Kazinsky told reporters.
In 2020, the Roscosmos budget for the Federal Space Program amounted to 176 billion rubles (about $ 2.31 billion).
In November 2020, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said about "very difficult" relations with the Ministry of Finance due to the financing of space programs. According to him, their perceptions of funding diverge "from zero to trillion." According to him, the department encourages them to work better, while Roskosmos believes that it works well.
Also, Mr. Rogozin said about the "maximum savings mode" in the corporation. According to him, the “inflated” salaries of management were cut by 15-20%, the number of employees was cut. “The money is concentrated exclusively on creating a new scientific and technical reserve,” he said.
