China and Russia signed a memorandum on the construction of a research station on the moon

China and Russia today signed a memorandum of understanding on the joint construction of an international research station on the moon. This was reported by the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

According to the memorandum, Roscosmos and CNSA will expand their cooperation within the project, open access to the station for all interested countries and international partners, and strengthen research exchanges to promote the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes in the interests of all mankind.

Within the framework of the project, China and Russia will closely cooperate in the planning, demonstration, design, development, implementation and operation of the international research lunar station, as well as during the promotion of the project in the international space community.

The station will be designed to carry out multidisciplinary scientific research on the lunar surface or in lunar orbit, including activities aimed at studying and using the moon, observations from the moon, fundamental scientific experiments and technology verification, follows from the CNSA statement.
