The ship Ever Given, which blocked the Suez Canal, again entered the route from Asia to Europe
The giant freighter Ever Given, which closed the Suez Canal for almost a week in March this year, has been repaired in the coastal city of Qingdao (Shandong province, eastern China). This was reported by Xinhuan News Agency with reference to the statement of the representative of the company Qingdao Qianwan Container Terminal Tian Xuye.
The vessel has already loaded 5,147 standard TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent) containers around 5:00 am Saturday, resuming shipping after more than a month of repairs in Qingdao.
The ship will proceed to Shanghai (East China) and Ningbo (Zhejiang Province, East China) to load goods before shipment to Europe, stopping in Malaysia, which will be the ship's first cargo voyage after repairs.
Ever Given, with a length of almost 400 meters and a capacity of 20,388 TEU, is owned by a Japanese company and operated by Taiwan-based Evergreen Marine Corp.
A container ship ran aground in the Suez Canal on March 23, blocking shipping along this important global transport artery. On March 29, the container ship was refloated by more than ten tugs. On October 4, the ship was sent for repairs to Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.
