Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine announced unreasonable pressure on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih
The Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine (FMU) called the searches of the chief accountant of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih unacceptable actions of the authorities, destroying the investment attractiveness of the state. This is stated in Special Statement by the federation released on Thursday.
“Unreasonable pressure on enterprises that for decades have provided high-paying jobs for tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, are the largest taxpayers and key suppliers of foreign exchange earnings to the country, we consider it unacceptable and destroying the investment attractiveness of our state,” the FMU said in a statement. p>
Let us remind you that on Wednesday the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine informed the chief accountant of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih PJSC about suspicion of official forgery and tax evasion.
The chief accountant of the country's largest metallurgical enterprise is suspected that from May 2017 to April 2019 he introduced false information about the calculation of fees for the use of subsoil, thus not paying rent for the use of subsoil in the amount of over 2.2 billion hryvnia.
The suspicion of the top manager was handed over by the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
"SBU accuses" ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih "of incomplete payment of the rent for the use of subsoil in 2015-2019. The case has remained pending since October 2020. The company has always denied these accusations and did not understand why the tax dispute is being investigated by the SBU and not by the State Fiscal Service, ”the press service of ArcelorMittal said.
The Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine supported the position of the enterprise, noting that the method of calculating rent used by ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is generally accepted, and there is a completely logical explanation for this.
“Iron ore is a mineral raw material extracted from the subsoil, and concentrate is the final product of mining. It is iron ore that is a mineral, and not the result of processing this raw material - iron ore concentrate. For taxation with rent, in accordance with the current edition of the Tax Code of Ukraine, the value of mined iron ore must be used, not iron ore concentrate. This is a well-founded calculation methodology, ”the federation believes.
