DTEK brought to Ukraine the second of seven Panamax ships with American coal for thermal power plants

The second Panamax-class vessel with American coal has arrived in Ukraine. The vessel was delivered within the framework of DTEK's agreements with international suppliers on the import of seven shiploads of coal from the USA and Colombia to Ukraine. The total volume of the second delivery is 66 thousand tons. Today the vessel was taken to the 20th berth of the port of TIS.

“Despite the difficult conditions with the availability and record prices for energy resources on the world markets, today we meet the second ship with coal from the United States. In the coming days, it will replenish the reserves of our TPPs and will ensure the stability of the Ukrainian energy system during peak periods. We have mobilized all available resources in order to ensure the stability of the energy system, light and heat in the homes of Ukrainians in these extremely difficult conditions, especially during the heating season, ”said Ildar Saleev, CEO of DTEK Energo.

On the eve of 60.5 thousand tons of fuel from the first Panamax-class vessel brought by DTEK for the needs of the state-owned generating company Centrenergo were loaded onto rolling stock (wagons) and sent to Uglegorskaya, Zmievskaya and Tripolskaya TPPs. This will allow them to partially stabilize the situation with a shortage of coal and, if necessary, generate more electricity at the peak of its consumption. Coal from the second vessel is intended for the needs of DTEK Energo TPP.

Three more shiploads with coal chartered by DTEK for the needs of its own generation are expected to arrive in Ukraine in December. The total volume of supplies agreed for November - January is about 470 thousand tons.

To date, the total volume of gas coal already contracted by the company from Poland, the USA and Kazakhstan has amounted to more than 0.9 million tons. DTEK continues negotiations on additional fuel volumes.
