ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih announces business as usual amid downtime of the company's website

Metallurgical company ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih continues to work as usual, but is preparing for all possible scenarios, said Mauro Longobardo, CEO of AMKR. About this reported to uaprom.info with reference to a statement by a top manager, which was published in the corporate newspaper Metallurg amid growing risks of a Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

At the time of writing this material, the corporate website and the website of the Metallurg newspaper are not working. Perhaps this is due to a hacker attack on the enterprise. Recall that AMKR has already reported that the corporate website was shut down from February 14 to February 17 “due to the likelihood of cyber attacks.”

The management of Ukraine's largest metallurgical enterprise has developed an action plan in case the situation deteriorates, Mr. Longobardo said. In particular, AMKR has created a stock of raw materials and auxiliary materials for a month. “What is now available, under certain circumstances, may disappear or rise in price significantly. But we won’t be able to work “in the warehouse” for a long time, because the warehouse space is limited,” said the head of the company.

“Now the processes are ongoing, the shops are working, there are orders. The railroad operates as usual. Vessels, despite the Russian military exercises in the Black Sea, moor and depart without any problems, transporting our products,” said Longobardo.

The facility also has instructions on how to properly and safely shut down production in the event of an emergency. “For example, coke oven batteries cannot be stopped and started many times. The company knows how to act in emergency situations so as not to cause significant damage to the units,” said the CEO.

AMKR employees also checked 34 bomb shelters located on the territory of the enterprise, and started repairing some of them.

According to Longobardo, the biggest risks in the event of an emergency are related to the ability to provide energy to the enterprise.

AMKR is one of the strategically important facilities that fall under the protection of the state, but there is no information yet on how the enterprise will be protected. “You understand, not all information is public, especially at a time like this. I have experience in crisis situations. A few years ago, I ran ArcelorMittal in Saudi Arabia, which produces pipes for the oil and gas industry. So, after the drone attack on oil platforms, the country's government allocated Patriot installations to protect our enterprise, - Longobardo gave an example.
