DTEK announced a fire at the Lugansk TPP as a result of round-the-clock shelling
The shelling of the Lugansk thermal power plant, which is located near the demarcation line in the city of Shchastia, has not ceased during the day, the press service of DTEK reported.
As a result of damage to the communication transformer, a fire broke out, which cannot be localized due to shelling. The buildings of the educational building, the oxygen station and blocks No. 10 and No. 15 were also damaged.
Only those employees whose presence is critical for the operation of the station are at the station. All others are working remotely. Employees who were at the station at the time of the fire were evacuated to a bomb shelter.
This morning, applications were filed for the establishment of a silence regime in order to restore power lines and power supply to the residents of Shchastia and nearby settlements in the Luhansk region. But, unfortunately, the situation remains critical.
Today, there is a serious danger to the life and health of employees. The station may stop without the possibility of resuming work.
Lugansk TPP is the largest producer of electricity in the Luhansk region and the only producer of thermal energy for consumers of Happiness. The energy supply of strategic enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities, schools, kindergartens, medical institutions, etc., as well as heat supply to the residents of the city of Shchastya depend on its reliable operation.
