The Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant of the Metinvest group of Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novinsky announced the start of the production of commercial pig iron after the partial withdrawal of the plant's divisions from the hot conservation mode.
The press service of the plant clarified that the first smelting of pig iron occurred after the blow-up of the third and fourth blast furnaces. In the future, production processes will be gradually restored at the following stages - steelmaking and rolling.
According to the road map for the reactivation of production, the Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works also partially brought the sinter plant out of hot conservation mode: three out of six sinter machines for the production of sinter were launched.
Now all the efforts of the company's management are aimed at updating logistics for the continuous receipt of raw materials and shipment of products.
