Zaporizhstal started steel smelting and is preparing to launch rolling mills
At the metallurgical plant Zaporizhstal, after the launch of blast-furnace production and the sinter plant, they began to reactivate and restart steelmaking.
“Now our redistribution is ready for work. We have already released trial steel melts and are developing the process further. Today I can clearly say that the equipment works well, the team of specialists works selflessly and professionally. The partial reactivation of the shop went according to plan thanks to the experience of our employees and their desire to work,” said Alexander Ponomarenko, deputy head of the steelmaking shop for production.
On March 2, due to the aggravation of hostilities in the region due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Metinvest group transferred part of the equipment of the Zaporizhstal plant to the hot conservation mode. However, already in mid-April, the plant resumed iron production on reactivated blast furnaces.
