The market of new passenger cars in Ukraine decreased by almost three times in August
The fleet of new passenger cars in August of this year was replenished by 2.9 thousand cars, which is almost three times less than in August 2021 and 20% less than the result of July 2022, according to the Ukravtoprom industry association.
According to the report, Toyota vehicles were the most in demand in August, with 750 units registered – 40% less than in August 2021, but 26% more than in July this year.
The second result is from Renault, whose car registrations have fallen more than six times compared to August last year, and by 21% - by July of this year, to 206 units.
For the first time, the German premium brand BMW has entered the top three of the Ukrainian market of new cars, with a 9% drop by August 2021 and an increase of 6% by July 2022 - up to 197 cars.
According to Ukravtoprom, in January-August, Ukrainians purchased and registered 24.4 thousand new cars, which is 63% less than in the same period last year.
As reported, in August last year, Renault, Toyota and Kia were in the top three, while BMW ranked 13th with 216 vehicle registrations. In total, in August last year, 8,513 thousand cars were registered for the first time, which is 22% more than in August of the previous year.
In 2021, the market for new passenger cars, according to Ukravtoprom, grew by 21% to 103.3 thousand units.
