ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih suspends production due to shelling of energy infrastructure

The Kryvyi Rih Mining and Metallurgical Plant ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, due to the massive Russian rocket attack on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, has critically limited electricity consumption and suspended most production processes.

According to the company's information on Thursday, the available volumes there is not enough electricity to maintain production even at the level of 20% of capacity.

Today, the metallurgical plant has temporarily stopped smelting steel and producing rolled products. Now only coke oven batteries No. 5, 6 remain in operation. Two more coke oven batteries (No. 3,4) and blast furnace No. 6 are in hot conservation mode. Both the enterprise's quarry and the mining and processing plant are de-energized.

"The enterprise will return to the normal mode of operation of the enterprise as soon as specialists succeed in restoring the energy infrastructure of Ukraine," the press release of the plant says.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. It specializes in the production of long products, in particular rebar and wire rod.
