Ukraine implements projects worth 4.5 billion euros as part of integration into the European railway network

As part of the integration of Ukrainian railways into the European TEN-T network, Ukraine plans to implement projects worth 4.5 billion euros by 2030, said Irina Koshel-Repnevskaya, director of the Reform Support Team (RST) of the Ministry of Restoration, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine ”.

“Ukraine has been in the TEN-T network not so long ago – since 2017. And within the framework of this work, there is the so-called investment indicative plan of the European Commission for the development of TEN-T corridors, which provides for investments, the development of relevant areas. In Ukraine, it is planned to implement development projects within the TEN-T network until 2030 in the amount of 4.5 billion euros,” she said.

Koshel-Repnevskaya noted that the European Commission has made changes to the TEN-T indicative maps , including the Ukrainian railway tracks. In particular, the North-Baltic Corridor has been extended through Lvov and Kyiv to Mariupol; The Baltic-Black Sea Corridor has been extended through Lviv, Chernivtsi (Romania and Moldova) to Odessa; the corridors Baltic Sea - Adriatic Sea and Rhine - Danube will pass through Lviv, the head of the RST specified.

Also, according to her, the European Commission excluded Russian and Belarusian routes from the TEN-T network, lowered the status of these countries of routes within the EU.

Koshel-Repnevska noted that the inclusion of Ukrainian railway corridors in TEN-T and access to financing are investment opportunities, in particular for the EU countries. For Ukraine, this is the corresponding status.
