The Ukrainian rolled metal market decreased by another 3.6%
Ukrainian enterprises in January-May of this year reduced consumption of rolled metal by 3.58% compared to the same period last year - to 1 million 360.9 thousand tons. According to a press release from the association "Ukrmetallurgprom", during this period, 472.9 thousand tons or 34.75% of the domestic market for rolled metal consumption were imported.
According to the OP "Ukrmetallurgprom", in January-May 2024, the country's metallurgical enterprises produced 2.568 million tons of rolled metal (129.6% compared to the same period in 2023), of which, according to information State Customs Service of Ukraine, about 1.680 million tons were exported, or 65.4%.
In January-May 2023, the share of exports amounted to 48.7% (966 thousand tons with a total production of rolled metal of 1.982 million tons ).
The share of semi-finished products in export supplies in January-May 2024 amounted to 46.79%, which is noticeably lower than the figure for January-May 2023 (48.96%).
The share of flat products rolled steel in export deliveries for five months of 2024 significantly exceeds the figure for January-May 2023 (40.30% and 30.75%, respectively).

The main export markets of Ukrainian rolled metal in January-May 2024, according to customs data , were countries of the European Union (78.8%), other Europe (6.3%) and other South America (5.7%).
