Turkish steel demand has fallen by 26%
Consumption of finished steel in Turkey in the first nine months of 2019 decreased by 25.8% compared to the same period last year (APPG) to 18.9 million tons. This was reported in the regional steel Association TCUD.
Consumption of long products decreased by 39.4% to 7.8 million tons, and consumption of flat rolled products decreased by 12% to 11.1 million tonnes.
Manufacturing of steel products for the first nine months fell to 25 million tons, which is 16.2% less than in the same period last year. The output of long products fell by 22.5 percent to 14.9 million tons, production of flat rolled products decreased by 4.7% to 10.1 million tons.
Total exports of steel products from Turkey in September of last year fell by 8.1% in quantitative terms compared to the same month of 2918 years to 1.9 million tons. In value terms it decreased by 16% to $ 1.3 billion.
Total imports of steel products in Turkey has decreased in physical terms by 12% to 1.1 million tonnes, and 19% in value terms to 908 million dollars.
