ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih modernizes steam boiler No. 1 and boiler systems
“ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” presented at a public hearing a report on environmental impact assessment for the modernization project of the steam boiler No. 1 and the general boiler systems of the peak boiler house, which provides steam by-product coke production. Two boilers are installed in the boiler room with steam productivity of 50 tons per hour each, with fuel for which is purified coke oven gas. Steam boiler No. 2 was comprehensively modernized in 2018, now the company plans to repair boiler No. 1. During the repair work, round-torch torches will be replaced by vortex (turbulent), which will provide more intensive mixing of air and fuel. The efficiency of the boiler after modernization will be higher, and the new automated process control system will make it possible to provide for the optimal ratio of fuel air. Vortex burners are a scientific and technical development of Ukrenergochermet (Kharkov). Among the new equipment of the peak boiler house is the ULTRAMAT 2321-02 gas analyzer manufactured by Siemens. It is planned to install a monitoring system, all data will automatically be sent to the operator for monitoring and optimal regulation of technological parameters. Specialists will be able to more accurately and efficiently adjust the composition of the fuel air and ensure the reduction of pollutant emissions. The project does not provide for a significant environmental impact both during the execution of work and during further operation of the facility. It is planned that after the modernization of the boiler, the volume of emissions will decrease by 38.4 tons per year, the consumption of natural resources - compressed air - will decrease by 438 thousand cubic meters per year. In addition, when operating new equipment, it will be possible to reduce energy consumption and increase the level of industrial safety, improve working conditions.
