"Green transition" of Ukraine provides for the rejection of coal and nuclear energy reduces
the Minister of energy and the environmental protection of Ukraine Alexey Orzhel presented the draft concept of the green energy transition of Ukraine to the year 2050, which is due to the transformation of approaches to energy development in the world and special attention to the problems of combating climate change.
"One of the reasons of unification of the ministries of energy and environmental protection was the inclusion of ecology in the agenda. Very often the environment was in second place compared to the energy problems. However, the modern world's climate challenges force all of humanity and we are including a review of all previous approaches to the use of natural resources. The greening of the energy industry is new content and the new logic of energy development priority the environment" - said the Minister.

the Minister outlined the main indicators set by Minamaneho to be processed in accordance with the Concept:
- energy efficiency because not every kW of power generated is environmental, and each hryvnia invested in energy efficiency, through the multiplier returns to 3 hryvnia;
- renewable energy sources energy (renewable energy)< / span> must increase 70% by 2050, but the cost of such energy should be balanced and commercially reasonable;
- the decrease in the share of extractive industries in the economy and, accordingly, the complete replacement of coal power plants (CHP) by 2050;
- the transition to a cyclical economy and waste reduction, rational use;
- the share of nuclear generation will decrease to the level of 20-25%, hydropower will remain at the current level, and new nuclear capacity can be built based on the technology of small nuclear reactors;
- to build a modern energy markets with a high degree of openness and concreteness;
- integration of energy markets of Ukraine with the European.
