Questions the decarbonization of the global economy discussed during the videoconference

As you know, UNECE brings together 56 countries and aims to promote sustainable development and economic growth of society. So, according to experts, among the significant challenges harmful emissions of co2, particularly in energy-intensive economies. According to UNECE, 80% of the energy mix of all countries of the UNECE are fossil fuels. Therefore, the effectiveness of action in reducing emissions of co2 depends on the further development of energy-efficient and competitive economy, quality of life, "clean" environment.
For example, the new EU program "European Green Deal" has an ambitious goal - to reduce emissions of co2 to 50-55% in 2030 and to make Europe's first "climate neutral" continent to 2050. This provides a range of measures.
Therefore, during the discussion the participants discussed various possible mechanisms for reducing emissions of co2 and stressed the need to develop economic incentives in this field.
