Ukraine will continue the strategy of development of renewable energy sources in the new environment
Ministry of energy of Ukraine confirmed the intentions for further development of renewable energy and transition to clean energy, but in a way that will be acceptable to the national economy and consumers. This was stated by the head of the Ministry Olga Buslovich during a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine Tobias Tibenham and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway in Ukraine, OLE T. Horpestad.
the Acting Minister said that Ukraine is doing everything possible to save the status of a country that fulfills its commitments, and where investors feel comfortable.
She recalled that the result of a long dialogue with investors was signed a Memorandum of understanding on the settlement of problematic issues in the field of renewable energy between the Government of Ukraine and the associations representing the interests of investors.
"the Parties managed to reach compromise agreements, taking into account the interests of consumers and investors in renewable energy, and the state as a whole", - said the press service of the Ministry.
For the implementation of the terms of the Memorandum the Ministry of energy has developed a draft law "On improvement of conditions of support of electricity production from alternative energy sources", which was promptly approved by the Government and registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
"the Memorandum is open, he's joined by investors in renewable energy. We want to have a clear, long-term regulatory rules of the game", - said Olga Buslovich. She also added that with the support of the President of Ukraine the draft law for consideration in the Parliament as urgent.
the Head of the Ministry stressed that Ukraine is striving to develop highly maneuverable generation to further integration of renewable sources into the power system of Ukraine was technically possible.
Among other issues that were raised during the meeting - consultation on the exchange of information and experience in the oil and gas sector, subsoil resources, cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and nuclear safety, as well as improvement of the relevant legislation of Ukraine.
Olga Buslovich noted that Ukraine pays considerable attention to the diversification of routes of natural gas supplies from the EU, therefore, supports the participation of Sweden in implementation of the project for the transfer of Norwegian gas to Poland through the pipeline "Baltic Pipe".
"the Ukrainian side is satisfied with the cooperation with the Swedish energy Agency, Swedish Agency for international cooperation and development Agency (SIDA), NEFKO a significant contribution to the development of energy efficiency and energy saving", - said Olga Buslovich, stressing his country's interest in expanding energy cooperation with Sweden and Norway.
Tobias Tiberg and OLE Terje Horpestad expressed support and the performance of the carried-out work, acting Minister of energy during the last months, and also confirmed the position that the strategic partnership with the EU in the energy sector should continue to strengthen energy security, development of the energy sector and integration of Ukraine's energy markets with EU markets. In turn, Olga Buslovich thanked the Ambassador for his appreciation for the work of the Ministry and support of Ukraine on the path to energy independence.
