Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and State Energy Efficiency will develop hydrogen energy
The potential and ways of developing hydrogen energy in Ukraine were discussed by Deputy Energy Minister for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov, acting State Energy Efficiency Chairman Konstantin Gura with representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Hydrogen is the energy sector that will play a key role in the development of a clean, carbon-free and prosperous economy. Therefore, the attention of the whole world is riveted on this topic.
The EU has already singled out Ukraine as one of the partners in the development of its hydrogen strategy and calls for becoming a full member of the Pure Hydrogen Alliance.
Having significant potential for the production of hydrogen and the infrastructure for its transportation, the Ukrainian side is committed to cooperation, results and mutually beneficial success.
Realizing the relevance of the topic, the Ministry of Energy and State Energy Efficiency begin cooperation with partners for the development of this area, the press service of the agency reported.
UNECE representatives confirmed the benefits of using hydrogen to decarbonize a range of sectors, in particular energy, industry, transport and energy security.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed with UNECE and UNDP to consider the possibilities of jointly developing a roadmap for the development of the production and use of hydrogen in Ukraine, taking into account international experience and standards.
