Ukraine to get £ 1.25bn loan from UK to build warships
Ukraine will sign a memorandum with the United Kingdom on the allocation of 1.25 billion pounds for the construction of new warships for the Ukrainian Navy, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday.
The memorandum will be signed during Zelenskiy's state visit to the UK on October 7-8.
“This is an important strategic document ... we will sign this memorandum worth £ 1.25 billion,” Zelenskiy said.
Specialized military news agencies said the funds will be provided in the form of a 10-year loan and will allow the UK to sell 8 Barzan-class fast warships to Ukraine.
According to them, the first two ships will be built in the UK, and the remaining 6 ships will be assembled in Ukraine.
