Metinvest increases environmental spending to $ 384 million in 2019
Projects for environmental modernization at enterprises in Mariupol, Kryvyi Rih and Zaporozhye made it possible to achieve a reduction in emissions, increase energy efficiency and more rational use of resources, the press service of the Dutch mining and metallurgical holding Metinvest B.V. (Metinvest) during the presentation of the Sustainable Development Report 2019, prepared in accordance with international non-financial reporting standards and the world's best practices of transparency and accountability.
According to the report, in 2019 Metinvest enterprises reduced their greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions by 10% compared to 2018, reduced water consumption and discharges by 9% and 10%, respectively, and increased their energy efficiency by 22% .
Rinat Akhmetov's and Vadim Novinsky's expenses on environmental protection in 2019 increased to USD 384 million, which is 46% more than in 2018.
Metinvest's seventh report was released in Ukrainian and English. The report was prepared on the basis of the international non-financial reporting standard GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), as well as taking into account the recommendations of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.
