Ukrmetallurgprom: We hope that the positive dynamics in reducing freight car turnover will continue
The Association of Enterprises " Ukrmetallurgprom " marks a positive the dynamics of decreasing freight car turnover. According to statistics, in November 2020, freight car turnover dropped to 7.9 days versus 10.3 days a year earlier, and the average car turnover in 2020 was the lowest since 2014. This was facilitated by both objective factors of 2020 (passenger traffic decreased significantly) and a reduction in the deficit of locomotives. In practice, the average delivery time for ore cargoes to seaports is 1.2 days. It is worth noting that just a year ago this figure was significantly higher, because trains with cargo on the way could simply stand idle on the tracks for quite a long time, which leads to an increase in the delivery time.
Wagon turnover is one of the important key performance indicators of Ukrzaliznitsa. With its deterioration, more wagons are needed to transport the same amount of cargo, and at the same time, the delivery time of goods increases. As a result, shippers incur more costs and the entire economy of Ukraine suffers.
Ukrmetallurgprom stands for efficient work and stable development of the mining and metallurgical complex of Ukraine. Logistics in this context plays a decisive role, because a significant aspect for shippers is the speed of delivery of their goods to Ukrainian ports and end consumers.
Today, the delivery time has become predictable, which returns Ukrzaliznytsya its competitive advantages in the transportation market. Ukrmetallurgprom supports the focus of the new management of Ukrzaliznytsia on the restoration of locomotives and investments in infrastructure, because this will have a positive impact on the organization of transportation.
The Ukrmetallurgprom Association of Enterprises hopes that the positive dynamics in reducing the freight car turnover will continue, and the Ukrainian railway will provide a high level of service for its customers.
