Tenaris plans to convert to hydrogen its steel plant in Italy
European pipe and welded tube manufacturer Tenaris will work with energy groups Edison and Snam on plans to use green hydrogen at one of its Italian steel mills, the company said on Monday.
This project will mark the first commercial use of hydrogen for the decarbonisation of the Italian steel sector.
Italian plant of Tenaris Dalmine S.P.A. produces about 800,000 tons per year of seamless pipes and 900,000 tons of rolled steel.
Tenaris is a leading manufacturer of pipes and related services for the global energy sector and several other industrial areas. The company's production system integrates steel production, pipe rolling and forming, heat treatment, threading and finishing in 16 countries.
