Energy efficiency in machine-building enterprises: a list of typical effective measures has been prepared
The GIZ project "Consulting enterprises on energy efficiency" with the support of the Ministry of Economy and State Energy Efficiency has published the results of energy audits of 18 enterprises in the machine-building industry of Ukraine.
As you know, the engineering industry is one of the leading industries.
“Increasing the competitiveness of these enterprises requires their energy modernization and the implementation of energy efficient projects that will be effective for this particular industry,” said Konstantin Gura, acting Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency.
So, based on the results of the energy audits, important conclusions were made:
- Mechanical engineering is most dependent on electricity (50.4%). Consumption of natural gas is 19.9%, while coal and wood consumption is 29.7%, primarily for heating and hot water supply.
- Production processes account for 85.5% of the energy consumed, about 8.2% use heating and water heating systems, and 6.3% are losses.
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, heat generation and supply, lighting, power generation and distribution, production processes have the greatest potential for energy saving.
- 61% of the total energy savings can be achieved through energy efficiency measures with a payback period of up to 2 years.
