Energomashspetsstal updated the certificate of the manufacturer of blanks for the nuclear industry
Kramatorsk PJSC Energomashspetsstal has successfully passed the audit of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency of the Republic of Turkey (ANR), which renewed the certificate of the manufacturer of blanks for equipment of the Akkuyu NPP (Turkey). The updated certificate No. TR-IMO-001 was issued by PJSC Energomashspetsstal on December 31, 2020 for a period of five years and is valid from January 11, 2021 to January 11, 2026.
The first certificate of approval of the manufacturer of blanks for the Akkuyu NPP was officially issued by EMSS PJSC on January 11, 2016. At that time, PJSC "EMSS" became the first enterprise within the project, certified by the Turkish supervisory authority. Obtaining the certificate made it possible for PJSC EMSS to start producing blanks for the equipment of the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP.
The certificate certifies that all production indicators of PJSC EMSS products - enterprise infrastructure, personnel, technology, production organization, quality management system, safety culture and testing laboratory - comply with the requirements of standards and guidelines in the field of atomic energy use and guarantee safety object.
Over the course of five years, PJSC Energomashspetsstal has successfully manufactured and shipped 4,763 tons of blanks for the key equipment of the 1st and 2nd units of the Akkuyu NPP. During this time, the enterprise has manufactured hundreds of parts for the reactor vessel, steam generators, pressure compensator, main circulation pumping unit (MCPA), main circulation pipeline and other equipment of the nuclear island. INR inspectors take part in supervisory audits of the enterprise and acceptance inspections of manufactured products together with the customer on an ongoing basis.
The specialists of PJSC Energomashspetsstal have mastered a new technology for the manufacture of shanks and discs of low-pressure rotors, which ensured the successful completion of the qualifications of General Electric and made it possible to start serial production of parts of steam turbine rotors for the Akkuyu NPP. The high quality of its products allowed Energomashspetsstal PJSC to continue manufacturing and in 2020 to conclude new contracts for the manufacture of reactor equipment for the 3rd and 4th units of the Akkuyu NPP.
The Akkuyu nuclear power plant is being built in the Republic of Turkey on the Mediterranean coast in Mersin province. The project provides for the construction of four 1200 MW power units each. The design life of the Akkuyu NPP is 60 years with the possibility of extension.
