ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih reduced steel production in 2020 by 12.1%
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, the largest mining and metallurgical enterprise in Ukraine, reduced steel production in 2020 by 12.1%, to 4.7 million tons. Pig iron production at ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih in 2020 decreased by 6.9% to 4.9 million tons, and the output of finished rolled metal - by 7.6% to 4.3 million tons.
At the same time, according to Mauro Longobardo, General Director of the enterprise, the production results in 2020 turned out to be the best of all pessimistic forecasts.
"The level of production of the main types of products - pig iron, steel, rolled products - really decreased significantly, but at the same time it was possible to achieve high rates of ore extraction and shipment of iron ore concentrate," Longobardo said.
At the end of the year, the production plan of the mining department of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih was overfulfilled, which was facilitated by both the market situation and the modernization of the crushing and processing complex.
The rapid recovery of business activity in the second half of the year helped the company to minimize losses in production and shipment of finished products, said the head of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
